Raising Money for Syria
Fundraising for Syria in Diversity week at New College, Swindon - 1st April 2014
To raise money for Syria, Pious Projects teamed up with a female muslim group based at New College and set up our own desert stall. The stall ranged from delicious, sugary doughnuts to savoury, honey dipped dough balls. We were also selling jaw-dropping home-made somosas which sold out within seconds!
As it was Diversity Week, we took the opportunity to break the stereotypical ideology of muslim women and present people with posters, descriptive booklets and pamphlets on how women are described and treated in the Quran. We also provided detailed posters on several influential Muslim women from when the Quran was revealed; Ranging from a warrior named Khawla Bint Al-Azwar Radeyallahu 'Anha (May Allah be pleased with her) who even led battles, to one of the prophets wives, Aisha Radeyallahu 'Anha, who became one of the most highest ranking scholars of Islam. Our booklets and pamphlets were free for all to take and we were pleased to find that many had took interest in the literature and even asked us questions about the topic.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to our fundraiser. The money will go towards providing them with food, clothing and shelter facilities. Again, thank you to everyone who helped make a BIG change to these people's lives.
May you all have a splendid day In Sha Allah (God Willing)
